CURBSTONING IS AGAINST THE LAW. The New Mexico Independent Auto Dealers Association has formed an Ethics Committee. This committee is now accepting curbstoning complaints and forwarding them on to the proper authorities. Curbstoning is the act of parking a vehicle for sale on public or private property by a licensed or unlicensed dealer (a dealer is someone selling more than 4 vehicles in a 12 month period). This is not to say that an individual can not sell their personal vehicles from their property. If you witness suspected illegal curbstoning, please forward to the association the following information:
1. Photos of the vehicle (front and back) with license plate visible if possible.
2. Location of vehicle.
3. Your name, company name, and a contact phone number.
4. Any other pertinent information regarding the illegally parked vehicle.
